Lean-to Conservatory

Lean-to Conservatory

This is a Half-Panel Lean-to Conservatory dismantle and re-build. The house was undergoing some renovation at the time and the customer felt that a brand new Double Glazed Conservatory should be put in place of the old and rotting Timber outhouse.

As the building was in the process of renovation our fitting team had to work around a number of other contractors, preparation, timing and planning was key in the manufacture and installation of our product.

Here you can see the previous conservatory with old timber frames, out of date, innefficient, and rotting.

Vertical Sliders, Bifolding Doors Tuesday 19th January 2010

A Full House, Vertical Sliding Sash windows to comply with area regulations as well as room-opening Bifolding doors to replace large wooden windows

A Full House, Vertical Sliding Sash windows to comply with area regulations as well as room-opening Bifolding doors to replace large wooden windows

This large Mock-Tudor style home has been fully renovated and has had old wooden single glazed windows replaced by modern Double Glazed Vertical Sliding Sashes, Casement Windows, and stylish Bifolding doors.

Bifold doors can create a whole new feel to your home, whether you want to use them internally or externally. They can be chosen to match the existing style of your home and can provide a smooth transition between rooms, or between indoor and outdoor space. More and more people are choosing these doors over standard doors and adding that extra touch to their homes.

Here is an example of unused space by the side of the property, two large wooden windows in a reception room have been converted to a large Four-Panel Bifolding door setup. Without compromising on the excellent light intake of the existing installation, the homeowner has added a new entrance and opened up the surrounding areas. Another good attribute is the energy efficiency of the new Double-Glazed Bifolding Doors compared to the old single glazed large wooden windows, these will definately prevent heat loss during the winter months.

Bifolding Installation (Slideshow)

Bifolding Doors

Bifolding Door Information

Also known as Folding Doors, Bifold Doors are simply doors that can fold in or out to open up a space in a desired location. Interior Bifold Doors are useful for smaller spaces, such as laundry rooms, closets or cupboards, but Bifold Doors can also be used on exterior applications, where the doors open to connect the inside to the outside.

Both interior and exterior Bifold Doors offer amazing flexibility in design and are remarkably easy to operate, with a simple tracking system running along the panels. On exterior applications, it is vital that the doors are able to endure harsh weather conditions and there are British Regulations (e.g. weather rating, insulation, safety and security) that all manufacturers of Bifold Doors should comply with. Most recognised manufacturers independently test for air and water penetration resistance and thermal performance etc.

Panels are usually connected together in a train and can be joined together in a number of configurations. Bifold Doors are designed to come in pairs, with two doors folding to one side, or with four doors that split in the centre and have two doors folding back to each side, and so on. However the term Bifold is used loosely and Bifold Doors can usually be manufactured to provide an even or odd number of doors (sometimes referred to as MultiFold Doors). Where an odd number of doors are used, a swing door is possible.

Bifold doors provide the flexibility to be fully opened, partially opened or totally closed, depending on the amount of space required. Exterior Bifold Doors also provide natural light, and the ability to connect the inside to the outside. Bifold Doors are ideal for connecting living rooms, entertainment areas, gardens and patios and can be custom designed to meet individual tastes and specifications. They can also be used in restaurants and offices to create partitions and space.

A Lean-To design Conservatory using our White sculptured Synerjy profile incorporating an Inline Sliding Patio Door.

This is a perfect example of a Conservatory designed to perfection. The size of the garden and low Dormer Bungalow roof restricted our capability. The customer requested a large sized Conservatory which opened into the garden. Space was restricted either side and the best option was chosen.

After Installation (Click to Enlarge)

Photobucket

A lean to conservatory is perhaps the most versatile of all of the conservatory designs. It can be used where the height of the conservatory roof at the house wall is restricted, such as on a bungalow, dormer bungalow or where a bedroom window is directly above the centre of the conservatory. Lean to conservatories are also the ideal solution where the depth of the conservatory is restricted, but you want to achieve as much space as possible by increasing the width.

Lean to conservatories can serve many purposes. Apart from being a valuable extension to your living space, your lean to conservatory can act as a garden room or greenhouse, giving you the benefits of sitting in your garden, or tending your greenhouse plants, even on the worst of winter days. The versatility of the lean to design also makes it ideal for constructing a lean to porch on your house.
